Re: Commodore 3.8L v6 plug-and-play

Hi, How did you go with this project. I'm considering fitting a 3.8 V6 to my Triumph TR7. I was looking at a VT ECOTEC Engine, but I have been told that these engines have way too much baggage in the form of Body Computers, Anti-Theft Systems etc, and that it would be better to use either a VN or VP...

Re: Ford EA Falcon CPI Idle controller

The Bosch idle valve found on a Hyundai Excel is a good option. The Ford Valve bolts to a plate, while the Bosch has hose fittings.

Re: I'm a bit rusty

I've always thought that cycles meant engine cycles. (ie 2-cycle or 4-cycle).

Re: Oldie but a Newbie

I'm running a Dolomite Sprint engine in a Triumph TR7 that I have fitted MS Injection and Coil Pack Ignition to. I'm in Gatton, and can come down sometime to go over it if you like.

Re: Spark settings, distributor mode

What you have done sounds correct. To find out where your timing is, one easy way is to make chalk marks at about 30 degree intervals around the crank pulley then use the timing light. Once you know where it's firing, it's easy to work backwards from there.

Re: Spark settings, distributor mode

What engine are you implementing it on? Using a distributor gives you better control over ignition timing, but the spark still travels via the carbon rod, rotor, then jumping to a pole in the cap, so the spark strength is not improved. Timing is also still subject to timing chain lash and distributo...

Re: PWM fildle solenoid

Hyundai (Excel etc) have a three wire Bosch valve that works well and is easy to fit. It uses approx. 3/4" hoses attached by clips. It also needs a 50watt 30ohm resistor that can be obtained from Farnell for about $10.

Contact WAGON...he has had them laser cut.

The connectors will have to come from a wrecker, but there is no shortage.

I'm running 4 of these coils through VB921s in Wasted Spark Mode - Cranking 2.8, Running 1.6, Minimum Discharge 0.5.
