Re: V6 VT Commodore standalone parts list

Welcome to the forums Sid, Most of the parts you will need should already come with the engine, most of the work will be in the wiring and configuring the MS2. Didi you get part of the original harness so you can use the connectors? * The Ecotec v6 uses a hot-wire MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor or you c...

Re: Help please

It's better to ask stupid questions and find the answers than to carry on in ignorance. That's what learning is all about and with a MS you will definately learn. The MegaStim plugs into the DB-37 and powers the unit. The sockets that you will be testing are the two 20-pin rows that form the 40-pin ...

Re: Help please

Hi Grant, The first thing would be to make sure you have a good plug pack powering your Stim. The 9v battery does not last long enough for testing and a 12VDC plug pack will do the job much better. Yes, you can use up to 12Volts. In the instructions are confusing,it says to plug the stim into DB37 &...

Re: Help please

Hi Grant, Welcome to the world of MegaSquirt . If you have chosen a MS system then I'm sure you have a basic knowledge of electronics and by the time you have finished you will have learnt a lot more. What voltages are you getting on those pins? The pins you are checking are on the 40-pin socket tha...

Re: ignition cutout

You could get a tilt switch from a motorcycle wreckers or an electronics store to cut the ignition when a rollover triggers the switch. But I think you will need a noise filter or a short delay so that the ignition isn't cut in hi-G turns or over rough bumps. A small PIC chip could be programmed to ...

Re: Spark table tuning

I once had the idea of making a controller with an interface board to a laptop to tune while diving. One button could take you to the current map position then use a potentiometer or buttons to increase/decrease fuel/ignition/AFR in the open map, and another button to burn the values. One possible b...

Re: Spark table tuning

I started with a spark map that was similar to a factory distributor curve and then started making some adjustments. If the car is shuddering you might try pulling the timing back a bit in those areas, especially if it is in the cruise (lean) area of the map. If that doesn't work you can always take...

Re: 36-1 Crank Wheels

Using your everyday driver as a test vehicle is always interesting. I tried the modded MS2 in the car yesterday and it wouldn't fire. I eventually figured out it was because I had the ECU set-up for the CAS which has a 5-12v pull-up built in to the harness but I was trying to get it running o...
