Re: 36-1 Crank Wheels

Ok. Wheels are being made.
I changed the thickness to 5mm to be on the safe side, plus that gives me the option of using a VR sensor instead.

Re: Electronics question

I remember my dad had a problem with a commodore v6 in a rodeo. He tried changing the relay switching but it also had a switch that opened when the oil-press went too low. It didn't want to switch off while the engine had oil-press after the wiring mod. :? That updated diagram is correct. Another wa...

Re: 36-1 Crank Wheels

The wheels are going to cost between $20-25. I think I will get four of each. I plan on using two of the large and one of the small ones, the rest are for spares or future projects. Don't worry, I use CAD at work and it doesn't take me long to draw/modify a drawing. I was thinking of using a gear to...

Re: Electronics question

That circuit will work fine. If you are switching a few amps or more you may want to add a diode (eg. 1N4004) across the relay to protect the transistor from an emf spike when the relay is switched off. Connect the cathode to the positive (+12V) side of the relay and the anode to the transistor side...

36-1 Crank Wheels

I have put in a couple of drawings to get a quote for laser cutting. They will be made out of 3mm mild-steel. One is a 6inch wheel (to suit holden straight sixes). And a 7inch wheel ( to suit 6 3/4" to 7" balancers, eg. chev). If anyone is interested let me know in the next couple of days....

Re: v2.2 ignition options

The LS1 coils have a built in ignitor that uses an inverted signal. The signal is held high at +5V, then pulled to ground to begin coil charging, then it fires when the signal goes high (+5V). I have an ignitor from a Nissan RB26 that is basically six power transistors. That uses a non-inverted sign...

Re: v2.2 ignition options

I'm using the MS2 v3 to fire an LS1 coil with built in ignitor. Use a pull-up resistor with your VB921 to create a square wave output. Or just use a small transistor and pull-up resistor in the prototype area. I also have another MS2 v3 with the extra code that is running multiple coils but I still ...

Re: Commodore V6 VN Bellytank

Don't forget to have a look at the MS2 Extra code. It can run indiviual coil packs and decode a number of different crank-angle-sensors. http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/ and the link to the forums http://www.msextra.com/index.php . There is also a version of Extra code that can run 4 fuel inject...

Digital Oscilloscope

Found this little digital oscilloscope kit that doesn't look too bad for the price.

Would be handy to trouble-shoot efi systems.
