Anyone here with E-series or AU falcon

G'day guys

I'm about to put a megasquirt in my ED with an AU motor, I want it so I can tune it for my cam and so I can run
coil packs with an EDIS unit or COP with the EDIS unit.

Has anyone got one in there falcon? What modifications have you got?

Cheers!

I have an AU but it's stock.. I have workshop manuals and such if you need info (including some AU edis info).

Hey there!

Ahh good to hear there is someone with an AU, how have you rigged up your megasquirt?
I was just going to gut an old ECU and use its plug so I don't have to hack the original wiring loom :)
I might just use an EDIS module from the states so I don't have to add stuff to the MS

I had one fitted to an EF falcon which was turboed. It has since been removed and put to use elsewhere, but I still have the plug in loom I made up. The EF is the closest relative to the AU as it runs coil packs. I also built a MS for a guy with an EF with a AU motor. The EF wiring loom plugs straight into the AU motor.
Does the au loom have two plugs near the firewall that seperate the engine loom from the ecu loom? If so the loom I have might work for you. If not you could just get the engine loom from an EF.

You don't need EDIS to run the coil packs, you just fit 3 ignition drivers (BIP's) to the MS and drive the coils directly. The EF setup I had was a plug in fit using all factory wiring, sensors, coils, etc. I did a quick write up about it. If you send me an email I will send it to you (when I find it). I also have the factory maps that someone read off the factory ecu and converted to Megasquirt maps.

Cheers,

Daniel.

Ah sounds good devojet!

Would you have any maps at all? I have one to start me off :)

I might have to order some of the BIPs though, do you think they would run a set of BA/BF coils?

Cheers!

PM me an email address and I will dig out the Maps I have. I have some Factory maps that someone read off the factory ecu and converted them to Megasquirt maps, as well as the maps for the turbo engine. There are also some simple changes that you will need to make to the VR circuit to make it work. I will send you the details when I send you the maps.

Is there any reason you want to change the coil packs? I found the standard EF coil packs to work fine even with the turbo. It would be possible to run BA coils but you will probably need 6 BIP's and use up a lot of IO. I recently installed a megasquirt on a 1JZ with 6 COP's and it used up alot of IO.

Cheers

Daniel.

Hey thanks for that! I'll PM you my email address

With the coils, I was just going to run them in a wasted spark fashion. :)

Even as wasted spark the coils will needa BIP each. so for the ba coils you will 6 bips.

I'd be interested in the maps you have, yours and the factory. I have an AU1 engine I'm planning to install in my 65 Mustang with a T5, and need a standalone ECU. I don't have the original EECV computer; I live in the United States and it''s a little difficult to get one.

Hi Dan,

I already sent you my files from the fordmods forum. The file I sent you should have the EF factory maps already in it.

Cheers

Daniel.
