The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
A forum for discussing topics of particular interest to those running MegaSquirt in Australia and New Zealand, including parts sources, group buys, etc.
I had an oops the other day in the escort and found a deficiancy with my instal. whilst hanging from my harness with my wheels skyward, the motor was still running. I figure relying on my reaction time or the fuel lines to purge may not be good for the wet sump engine. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on an automatic cutout for impromptu wheels up parking.
You could get a tilt switch from a motorcycle wreckers or an electronics store to cut the ignition when a rollover triggers the switch.
But I think you will need a noise filter or a short delay so that the ignition isn't cut in hi-G turns or over rough bumps.
A small PIC chip could be programmed to take the tilt switch signal and only cut the ignition if the tilt is triggered for one second or more and maybe if the throttle is less than 10%.
Ask in the MS-Extra forum, maybe there is code that will do this using one of the spare inputs?
Thanks. Bikes are an unknown to me so sourcing a tilt switch from 1 is a great idea. Scouring th other forums, found a brief referencce to an oil pressure cut out. If i were to Connect an oil pressure sensor to an input and use an output to kill the pumps I think this would also achieve same, I still have wet sump.my concerns are how would I start, because pressure is low,and it may effect pump priming pulse. Would I need an output, or can I turn off pumps in code?
With the oil presure set up you can also run a wire from the starter circuit to bypass the oil pressure switch when the engine is cranking. I think holley sell a special oil pressure switch for the job that allows you to wire in the starter circuit as well. you will probably want to connect the switch to the ignition as well as the pump. At idle it will run for a little while after the pump has stopped.
Cheers
Daniel.
